Can anyone tell me about the white crested ducks? They look like Pekins, but from what I read online, they are not actually Pekins. Is that correct?
I may have the opportunity to get either one or two this weekend, but would like some info about them first.
I have seen on here that some of the crested ducklings that are born have neurological issues. These two are grown ducks. Could I be fairly certain that there is not a problem if it has not appeared by now?

I haven't raised crested whites but it is possible for them to develop neurological issues later in life

Hmm, gosh, they are so cute, but I just don't know if I am equipped to deal with that.

Not all crested are going to have issues and if they haven't yet it's possible but unlikely. I had a crested Mallard that was fine but did pass on terrible genetics. As long as your not breeding I don't think it should be much of a issue

Definitely will not be breeding. Still a bit leery about whether or not they are a good idea. Having just lost a Pekin makes me think it might be tough to take them because even though they are crested, they still resemble the one that passed away. It is still hard and I miss her. I call the flock in and she was always at the end of the bunch running in. I still wait and look for her. Makes me sad.
But, who knows, I might have a weak moment and agree to take these two if they are females.
I just didn't want to start out with a big potential problem and lose them prematurely. I am a worry wart from way back!
