Crested Phoenix with feathered feet

Thank you. He does have a large tail, larger and Fuller than what the picture shows. I am quite proud of this bird. He looks to be exactly what I was hoping for. But time will tell.
Oh yeah, I would be very proud as well. He's beautiful.
It's very satisfying to get the outcome of what you were hoping for when breeding birds.
What are you going to breed that little guy back to?
Do you have Phoenix? Other breeds? I know you have the OEGB rooster.
I don't, I *might* acquire a pair in the near future, but we'll see.
But I mainly stick to the OEGB. I have 50+ OEGB breeders right now, I'm trying to breed them to be very top notch, show quality standards so I can show them, and their over all value goes up significantly breeding to those standards, which in theory, will help me to create a small business with them. Hopefully.

I do have a standard flock of layers, nothing too special in there. Just some pretty mutts. Haha!

When I first started this crested Phoenix I started with enough stock to be sure to have unrelated or appropriate birds for line breeding. I have three or four wonderful pullets to pair him with.

Your OEGB is a beautiful rooster. I'd love to see more of your birds. I've been interested in the breed for a long time.

I have a couple of mutt layers too for their eggs and to brood the Phoenix and serama eggs. Phoenix and serama are the two breeds I raised in chickens. Both breeds are now my own version.

Awesome, you got yourself set up way good to start your breeding.

Here's a couple of my birds, and that's my breeding thread.
I also have a YouTube channel, I'll link that as well.

Neat! I have a little serama pair, too. A silkied serama rooster, and a little mottled hen.

Absolutely beautiful birds. And I like your setup too. Should you get the chance I really like to see your serama pair.

The hen in my picture is of my creation and does not follow serama standards. She has a beard, muff, and feathered legs and feet. I do have pure serama but prefer the line I have created as far as looks go. I'm a retired science and art teacher and I always loved teaching genetics to the kids. I always used birds in the classroom (quail). I really miss it.

I love the lacing on this hen and I hope incorporate this trait into my crested Phoenix line. The hen just hatched nine 1/2 Phoenix chicks that have the feather legged trait. One chick is gray like the mother and I hope it will have the lacing. Should the gray chick turn out to be a cockerel it will have a long tail but not as long as his father. A long tail is a incomplete dominant trait.
