crested rooster losing crown feathers

My crested rooster had a wonderful head of feathers for the longest time. Now, he seems to be losing them like an old man. I don't know if my older hens could be pecking at the younger rooster and causing this or if something else is causing it. Any help?

It could be the girls picking him or it could be moulting time for him...
