Urg, I just got another notification that "Your poultry has been shipped" and wondered what? You said that yesterday! I looked at yesterday's email and todays, both say today's date

My poor baby serama was looking forward to some company (there were bantam sultans in there too) and I'm just bummed

another day to wait!

Yaaay!!! They came in this morning!!!

Wow, these buggers are really cute! I thought, OMG, the nose was bashed in, but on closer inspection, you can see that it's the pre-horn comb and it's black!

Black chicks are hard to photograph! These look like the fab 4 (Beatles) in tuxes, LOL

That must be Ringo in the front ;P LOL

Seriously too cute! How long will it take before I know if I have boys or girls? ROFL, the eternal question!

They're eating like mad, and more energetic that the leghorns I've hatched EVER were! ADD Chicks?

Congrats! I am glad they made it.

You have quite a while until you can sex them. So far I have found I have to wait until their crest comes in. The boy are much more spikey while the girls are more round.

Most of my chicks will have some white feathers on the wings. They always molt out. My youngest group is seven weeks now and I am pretty positive about sex. You can see the little combs on the boys and pretty much nothing on the girls. I have to get some more current photos.

Ok, call me slow, call me IQ deficient, LOL. I've been sitting here staring at chicken photos and not "seeing" square whatsoever in the photos. Then I came across some pictures of Cornish X in a grow-out facility and realized from the front, some are square, some are even wider, and now, I think, and would like confirmation. When they say body type is almost square, do they mean from the front view? I was always looking at their profile! You know, few people take pictures from the front!

Dang that took me a long time to figure out, I just hope I figured it out correctly, LOL. Can anyone confirm that's what they mean in the American Standard of Perfection? Thanks!

Examples:

Triangular (serama):

Triangular (serama)

Square (Dorking)

Rectangular (Cornish X)

Triangular (Serama) Or round?

I believe they are talking about the profile. Not sure, I am still learning. When someone wants to see the shape of a bird in a picture it always seems to be the side profile. Wish I could help more. Do you have SOP book? It is a great place to start.
