Crickets

As a good source of protein for the babies, are crickets to large for the babies. Is it just meal worms I can use?

Nothing is too big for a chick with an appetite.

They'll go after those suckers like you wouldn't believe. Ours constantly fought over worms/crickets when they were babies.

So in answer to your question, I say no. Go ahead and try crickets. If it looks like they are having a hard time, you'll just walk away with a little more knowledge. It can't hurt anything.
