crippled coturnix at hatch

Quote:
No, none of the culls are from your batch. And the 2 weak ones are fine now and I can't even tell who is who now. Sorry, I should have let you know that your eggs weren't the problem ones. I had a WAY better hatch rate with yours, too!

There is one little midget from your batch, though, who is so cute. A tiny little one, much smaller than the others, and with noticably shorter down, but he is just as active and happy as your others. Have you ever had a tiny one like that? I even looked on your website to see if you also had button quail and might have accidentally put one of those eggs in. (I don't know anything about boutton quail, I was just trying to make sense of the little-bitty one.) I would expect the little one to be weak, but he is running around just like the others!

I've never seen spraddle leg before, so I don't know if it was that or a deformity. I think they were deformities, though. I never had them on a slippery surface... they are on paper towels.

That's good to hear, I have had one little one in every few hatches. Is it a Manchurian because they sometimes throw the small ones. The smaller ones grow into a regular bird, but they lay about a week later.

I need to work out the kinks in that color, but they are cute. Midget chick for sale.

How many did you have hatch? Oh, and were there any whites?

I had 14 to hatch out of the 30 you sent to me, which I think is pretty good, especially since you only needed to send 24. Thanks for the extras!

Of the 55 I got from Lake Cumberland only 11 hatched, and 3 of those were culled.

I have 3 whites from Lake Cumberland, and the rest are brown.
From yours I seem to have several different colors, though no whites. All are more or less chipmunky, but some are almost not striped, and some are a more orangish tone, and some seem a little shinier (kind of silvery) in the lighter striping. And then there is the one little Manchurian.

They are so cute!
