Crippled Foot? Please Help!!!

So.. here's the scoop. We have this new super-cute little chick, but we think its foot is crippled. Is there anyway without hurting the chick to treat this?

Not sure what kind of cripppled you are talking about. if its toes are curled try duct tape. straighten its toes out and put it to a piece of duct tape, curling the edges over the top of its toes so it will stay in place. then leave it for a few days, it should fix the problem.

I had a chick born yesterday, both feet have curled toes, he just scooted on his tummy. So today I made booties for him, taped little pieces of cardboard to each foot. He still scoots but stands up when I hold him up. He may also have splayed legs but i'm not sure yet. But what a cutie he is!

I have a little buff laced polish with some crooked toes, I may try the duct tape trick to try to straighten them out...

I wouldn't use duct tape, it will be really hard to get off the chick without injuring it. Just use the sticky part of a bandaid, put it on the bottom of the foot first and straigten the toes, then stick the other sticky part on top and press between the toes to hold them in place. Leave them on for a few days, and you'll be surprised how it helps!

I have a chick like this. Can't stand. everyone told me to cull her. Found her not standing on March 31. She is still alive and now scooting around. I tried sort of a duck tape snow shoe thing, then she couldn't move at all. I think I will try a bit of cardboard padded with a cotton ball and vet tape. All my friends and neighbors think I am really headed to the nut house on this one. I named her yesterday... Cassidy ( as in hop a long ..)

I have a silkie with a foot like that. Other than not being able to get on the roosting bar she seems to do fine.
