Sandi,

I don't plan on killing him, my heart ways to heavy on me to do that

I just mean that I will not let him breed any of my hens and I would re-home him. I had about 46 and I got a lung problem due to all of the dander and fuzz from them, so I have re-homed a total of 35 of them so far.

I only kept 11 and will re-home a few more of those, because my husband is having to take care of all of my chickens now and I want him to have a manageable number for him that he is comfortable with taking care of. So I am only keeping the best of the best.

So, just seeing what all the other Silkie breeders think of this little roo.

If you'll look he already has hackle feathers and notice his pointy head feathers. You can usually tell by the combs too.

I had to check the toes again, one side is slightly closer than the other, but their not too bad. If I don't keep him I'll let you know.

I'll let you know. I am thinking about switching him with a Lavender Roo. I think this little blue boy is going to be a pretty boy when he grows up. He has no hard feathering in his tail and his wings are shredded really good. He does have pretty coloring.

I guess the question is really what do you want to do with him? Are you trying to raise show birds...or pets?

If your goal is show birds, I would say that he himself is not a SQ cockerel. That doesn't mean that he can't sire quality silkies bred to the right hens.

Well it was interesting reading the input on him because I have one that could be his twin
almost and I was wondering the same thing myself!!

Well, I only kept my very best hens, so I guess he will have to be traded for a different Roo. I do not show my birds, but I only want to keep the best quality ones.
