Critique this 16 week old Blue Silkie Roo

The only thing that I immediatley saw was that his wings could be tighter, But I really like his coloring.

Toe seperation and feathering can be nicer, and his wings can be tighter. But he has nice color and type

Does he have a Lavender gene? It looks like it?

Exactly what color are his ears and how old is he 4, 5 maybe 6 mo? Is his comb bigger then most of yours? Like the color a lot feathers and comb.

He is 4 months old. His ear lobes are blue and his father possibly carries a lavender gene. His comb really isn't as large as it looks in the pic. He has a decent sized comb. It is a dark comb.

I just spent 5 days in the hospital for that same reason. They say its our cockatiels and parrots and they called it bird fancier disease. It sucks because I now have to get rid of my birds....at least the cockatiels because they are the messy ones. My dr said as long as I am willing to wear a mask while cleaning a coop I can get chickens. And not have to many (which I can only have 5 legally anyway lol) Sad thing is it took the stupid idiots almost a year to figure out why I was getting sicker and not better......Sorry you have to get rid of all your chickys. I say keep the male though. He is gorgous.

Yeah, I call it Bird Keepers Lung Disease, but also read that it is called Bird Fancier's Disease too. It really sucks and you feel really bad. I am starting to feel better since my husband has taken over the chicken chores. He is going to buy me a good respirator so that I can spend a little time with my friends. He said as long as I didn't spend too much time, he doesn't want me real sick again. I have a disposable respirator, but they are not the best, so he is ordering me one from his work supplier.

Like you, I just kept getting worse and worse until I couldn't take it anymore. The panic attacks were going to kill me by themselves

I am such a baby, but when I started coughing really bad and would lose my breathe, then the panic attacks, it was just horrible. The steroid shots they gave me really helped me alot.

I am going back soon, to see what else can be given. I am still coughing, but not near as bad.

I hate that you have to lose your birds, but we have to consider our health first.

My Blue Silkie Roo looks identical to him too - do you know where he came from originally? I was also debating whether or not to use him for breeding because I love his coloring but not necessarily his body shape. Here is a picture of mine at about 3 months of age and again at 6 months

Are you asking where mine came from originally? If so, I hatched my blue roo from my own birds. The breeder I got mine from has I think Alan Standford, G.M. and some other breeders birds in her flock. One of my Splash Pullets is from a George Mihalik Hen.

I think your bird is very nice. Can you get some side pics of him?

If you can only have so many and your going to sell most of your chickens you'll have a little change and you can get a nice Lavender rooster because you like the look. Go for it you will have great fun working with the color making it better. Put your mark on the silkie breed while your here. I think that's what it's all about anyway.
