Croad Langshan?

What you read is correct. "Purple" eggs are a fancy story that people use to hustle uneducated folks. The Langshan breed lays brown eggs, occasionally have a bloom on them that some mistake as "purple", but it isn't a defining characteristic of the breed. Never has been, never will be.
If you look up the egg color for Croad Langshans, it states that they are a brown egg layer. Almost every site, including some hatcheries, also state that under certain conditions, as in dampness on the egg, rinsing, etc, the eggs will appear purple or raspberry colored but the color is usually short lived and it not a true color for the breed. I have seen many pictures of these eggs that appear to be a light raspberry color. I have a buff orpington who lays a lighter tan egg and when she first lays them, they 'appear' very pale lavender until I rinse or refrigerate them. I don't think it is a fancy story as much as it is just a perception of those that have them and actually see the color. As for my buff orpington, she is still young and hopefully, her eggs will not only get bigger but a darker tan/brown. My Black Star lays a darker brown egg appearing sometimes as it if is a terra cotta color. Love her egg color.

Yes thank you. That is what I try to tell people, but they want to believe this non-sense about purple/plum eggs instead. Facts are facts.

ThatFarmerChick were you able to locate these birds? I am in SE Texas and would love to add these beauties to my flock.
I found this supplier about hatching eggs. They are in northern FL area.

There is another lady who ships chicks & hatching eggs(?) but I will let ThatFarmerChick pass along that info. At the moment, I can't remember and can't access my email for the info.

Feather Hill Fancy and Rare Breeds. You will have to Google it. I wish I had more space this year. I really wanted the joy of hatching them with my son, but my husband bought some eggs from somewhere else that gave my son a few other breeds that he wanted. We may get a trio, but it will cost us more than I want to spend.

I bought croad langshans from this same person in Ohio. Her pictures of pink and purple eggs are not accurate. My eggs are not pink or purple. If you enlarge her pics you will see pink and purple smudged outside of the eggs outline. However with that said these birds are the most beautiful I've ever seen. All of my chicken friends who see my rooster are awestruck. The shape, size, coloring and disposition are all amazing. Definately show quality birds. This is the only time I can think of that I've been happy to be lied to.

hey there
i've been looking for a supplier too and am not averse to as much of that plum bloom as possible.
would you mind sharing with me what source you found?
