Hey all you expert crocheters out there....I have a pattern question that is driving me nuts. This seems like a fairly straight-forward cable pattern, but for some reason...I'm just not "getting" it. Here's the pattern: ........work 22 sc evenly across each square (granny squares joined in a strip), turn-110 sts. Row 2 (wrong side) Ch3 (counts as first dc), [Dc in front loop of next st, dc in back loop of next st] 9 times, dc in front loop of next st, *work Cable over the next 4 sts as follows: skip next 2 sts, dc in both loops of next 2 sts, dc in both loops of first skipped st, dc in both loops of second skipped st, [DC in front loop of next st, dc in back loop of next st] 9 times, rep from * to last 2 sts, dc in front loop of next st, dc through both loops of last st, turn.
OK...so my ? is: I do this and I am counting 107 sts...does this sound right?? I guess I don't understand why I am chaining 3 to count as my first DC. I am up to row 6 now and holding steady at 107 sts in each row and it looks OK, I guess...but it is right?
Hope someone can decipher it...
Thanks,
Leah
