K&H Chicken Farm :

My Grandma use to make granny sqs all summer then put them together in the winter so it would keep her lap warm. When she passed she had 19 quilts that had just 4 rows done then put up to wait for cold weather. All of the familys took one to finnish. It was a great gift she left us all.
Shelly

Shelly, that is a really cool story. Makes me think of my Grandma. She turns 90 later this month. I made her an afghan (all straight stitches, of course) but I haven't sent it yet. It makes me think of her. And I'm having a hard time letting it go. She has Alzheimers very bad and I know she won't be with us much longer. Makes me feel like keeping the lap-robe is keeping her.

Wow. New people. This is terrific.

Darlene: There are 35 sqs. 12 on each large side and 4 down each narrow side and 3 on the bottom

The handle is single and double crochet. And they lining: She did it in sections and then put it together and put it in.

Boy I had a close call today! I only have room for a certain number of chickens. And I have my last 6 ordered from ideal. They will arrive on the 27th.
Well hubby and I went to the feed store to pick up a heat bulb for the brooder and what should hit our ears when we entered. BABY CHICKS!! OMGOSH! The cutest things you have ever seen. Buff Orps, blue Andulsians, RIR, But no cochins or JG so I was safe and left empty handy. I think Ty (my hubby) was holding his breath until he got to start the car and back out of there! LOL!

I can't wait til mine get here!!!

crazy4chicks- I know what you mean about the help thing, I have two little girls well a 7 yr and a 2 1/2 yr and when I bring in a tub of yarn, sit down and open it they eyeball it just waiting for the moment I have to get up to do something and then, well you know. On days like these they always seem to be reallllll hungrey or thursty,

When I get back from getting them something my yarn is now all out of the tub hooks stuck in every ball more than half the balls unravaled, and strung all over the den and livingroom which are ajoining and very very large. And everything is in knots. I really don't know how I get so many done so quickly, with such energetic little helpers. But I have been doing this every day since I was 6 months pregant with the oldest so I guess I have some of it down by now but explains why I don't know how to do alot of different stitchs. lol:lol:
But I love it and it keeps me calm. well ta ta for now ladies read ya later.

Boy howdy jacie, where do you find the time to hook squares, while making those eggs, they are gorgous, it would take me forever to do something like that. You are one clever chick.

Thank you for the very sweet compliment. I have plenty of time to work on the eggs and my art and a few crochet squares because I'm not busy like most of you with kids, kids, and more kids. Mine are all grown and so are most of the grandkids. Old age ain't all bad!!

Hubby retires totally at the end of Dec so we will have plenty of time for fun things.

I admire all of you that are still raising kids and doing everything you do. I still remember how busy it was and look back and think: How the heck did I do all that???

God Bless all of you!

Jacie

I don't know if it's been decided or not, but Salamander says that if everyone decides to crochet the amount of squares per people in the swap then she is more than happy to do that.

After many days of lousy weather, it's supposed to be 70 degrees today. Then it's supposed to get nasty again tomorrow until monday, so today, I am NOT making any squares. I will be out enjoying the day, shoot me if you must, but it's gonna be too nice to be indoors. :Þ

Jessica, not only does she make those museum quality eggs, no kidding, I looked!!, but she also has time to enjoy life and have FUN!! I spent about 6 months in Arizona once and it is a really rockin town, especailly that SunCity..who'da thunk that being a retirement community, lol! Those retirees have concrete yards painted green like grass ...so NO mowing, lol!! They beautiful garden spots on their sun porches but every thing else is conrete. I remember those Sun City Cheerleaders, forgot what they were called but amn those ole ladies (can say that since I'll be 50 this year, lol!!) can rock!!! Vegas gambling was really fun! The slot machines were cool, wasn't rich enough or brave enough to play anything else...plus with all the free drinks they keep bringing you, who cares what else you play, lol!! Sound like a fun place to live..I liked your climate better than ours in NC because it was warm/hot dry with no humidity, our warm/dry is loaded with pollens and humidity. Yeah, I give Arizona a def. A+!!!!!..even personally met Liberace at a Vegas show one time, hahaha!! Not in all his regalia but, duh, when the lights came up, he was in the seat beside me!! Nice as could be!!

Keep it up Julie, good work & Jessica, great job and day brightening posts!!! Everyone is doing a super job, keep the pics coming they are inspiring to the rest of us, lol!! Wegotchickens, I know your Granny will be thrilled with your afghan!!

Egg---have a great day out doors and square-guilt-free!!! And yes, Salamander, 20 are required, seems alot of folks actually are going to make the 36 so that will be soooo great (me included)...if you aren't/won't/can't/whatevver, just do your 20, no sweat, we'll have plenty I feel sure...and thanks Jacie for the count on that bag, that will def. be my project!!!

Ya'll have a great day and be safe and crochet when you can and hug the ones you love...and thanks so much for joining this swap...I am sooooo enjoying my new pals!!Darlene
