We lost my dad to cancer, and since then Mom's been knitting hats for chemo therapy patients. She said she can't do the baby ones because it makes her too sad. So she does really funky big ones with all kinds of far out textures and colors. She makes some normal 'man colored' hats as well. But the funky ones are her favorites to make.

ya'll are saints. I have been meeting alot of people of late that have lost someone to cancer, and one person has lost most of her family to cancer, it really hurts my heart to hear that this has happened to some very many and to children. I will have to go today and find one of these nifty kniters and start helping out. I just sit here and cry when I read these storys. And it makes me want to go home and hold my girls and never ever let them go. god bless all of you for all that you do. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you. May God be always by your side. Maw.

Mangled & Wegotchickens, I am so sorry that you have lost loved ones to cancer.

Maw - I couldn't knit to save my life, but those Knifty Knitters are so easy. Wal-mart around here carries them, or Micheal's. They're not real expensive. They're quick and fun.

Now I gotta get off here and decorate a cake for my Gramma's 80th birthday tomorrow. I'll post a pic when I get it done.

That preemie hat making is a good cause and there are tons of patterns on line for crocheting chemo caps or preemie hats or prayer shawls and even camoflague helmet liners for our troops in Iraq...alot of good charities on line to practive your hookin skill on! Ya'll have about 12 days so crank 'em out ladies!!

I only have nine done, but I am working as hard as I can. Found out last week my collar bone has detached from my shoulder:barnie No wonder I am in such pain. For six months the doctors have been missing it

I made two today and I will take the day off tomorrow and work on more Sunday.

Four more to go and I will be sending 38 next week.

Tiki - yes, we pluck rabbits, French angoras "molt" every three months and you can just comb or pull the longer fiber out. I only pluck the blanket (top and sides) and cut the rest short or they would start eating their own fiber and get wool block.

Shelly, don't try to do too much.

My friend said her mom hooks for premies and she is getting me the pattern that she uses. I will post it when I get it.

Darlene, I will pm you in the next day or two. Too today off to wash walls and paint, cut the grass and clean up the yard. House has been for sale for two years - - need to sell the house so I can move closer to my alpacas (my alpacas are at my sister's farm, we are in business together) and get lots of chickens. A friend at work who is on the board of a rescue organization said they will have some hens for adoption in the next few weeks and my sister and I will take some - finally chickens on the farm!

Sorry about all the cancer losses. We have three people at work that have been diagnosed with cancer. One is a good friend who just had breast cancer surgery 2 weeks ago. Lots of prayers for all these people.

Back to hooking!

Bonnie:)

Well, got the cake done.

The 12 yellow roses symbolize her 12 kids. It was my Mom's idea. I could only find my one rose tip, goodness only knows where my other 5 went to, probably the sand pile with the kids.
Now I have to keep 2 kid's finger out of it until tomorrow afternoon!!
It's a full sheet cake, and the weather was so warm today, I had a heck of a time with my icing.
I'm not ecstatic about how it turned out, but hey, it'll do.

Well ya'll its been fun. I am starting a new thread for us, its a place where we can all keep in touch, and talk crocheting and chickens untill the next swap. We can keep each other posted on what projects we are doing and how they are going and for new people who want to learn how to crochet before the next swap, so that they can join along in the swaps and such, post patterns for each other, and more. so when this swap is done, head on over to the new thread and thats where we will meet up until the next swap starts in sept. I will there when i go to start the next swap. The new thread will be BYC Crochet Club thread. so that what you need to look for and it will be in the Me, My Chickens, My Family, forum. see ya'll there.
