How long will drying take? Yesterday, even though I tried my hardest to squeeze as much water out as possible, it was still very, dropping wet when laid it out on these mats. This morning it's very wet. The humidity in here is 20%!
It will definitely take forever! 24 hours or more in my experience. But worth the wait!

My new WIP is this granny sweater:

I found the most gorgeous Mandala yarn at Walmart and that's what I'm using for this sweater. Surprisingly this is my first lion Brand yarn and it's amazing.

I had to look back because I remembered you saying about the LBY Mandala yarn. Is it Meowth? Because I have that one! I had no idea it would transition from one color to the other like your sweater. Or did you cut the yarn and move to the next color when you wanted to change color in your sweater?

Now I want to start a (nother) new project!

Yes it is Meowth! It fades a bit in each color before changing to the next color. I never cut and reattached the yarn!

My sweater has dried, but now it smells a bit... Musty. Maybe it was the mat that trapped too much moisture. I'm not sure what to do other than wash it, but if I understand correctly, washing machines and dryers damage crochet. So does that mean all I can do to wash it is just do the whole blocking process again with soap? Will that still stink?

I was looking up what to do with those Mandala yarns, and I saw where they said you can deconstruct the whole cake into its separate colors! Seems like a waste! But, on the other hand, if you think of it as buying a “set” of coordinating yarn colors, then separating them might be easier (cheaper?) than buying several separate skeins of yarn. At least you would know they look good together. I don’t plan to deconstruct any of mine.

If the musty smell came from the mat, then I would not use that mat again.

As for washing crochet, I only have afghans. But they stand up to machine washing very well. And drying. Maybe you could wash it on delicate cycle or by hand, and then lay it flat to dry, but not on the mat? Seems like the mat doesn’t allow enough air flow. You could also consider machine drying it for just 10-15 minutes to get a good portion of the water out, and then lay it to dry.

That’s what I do with my store bought sweaters that require laying flat. And I lay them on this rack I have that’s like a lot of plastic clothes lines in a row. So technically not 100% flat. But it works.

Separating the yarn might be a great idea if you don't mind tying the yarn if you want specific patterns in the color. Especially because DK yarn tends to be 8x the price of worsted 🙄I specially chose this yarn because I wanted the colors to change in the sweater without any end weaving or tying off. The only issue I'm having is that my sleeves will definitely not be symmetrical. I'm hoping I can wind the yarn off from my second cake that I bought and if the colors are the same order it may work.

I definitely need a sweater rack!

My daughter found this on the internet! 😂
