Legs out? My quails give me a heart attack everyday by laying in freaky positionsAww they are so cute! How that one sleeping with it's legs out is so odd.![]()

i think so, I’m reading a lot of conflicting information... Some say 3 weeks and they can be off heat, others say 5. I think I’ll just have to go by how they behave.Really? Do they just grow faster?![]()

I am glad that Mr Kink neck is still alive! I hope that the other kink neck gains weight and gets better. They are so cute!!Oh gosh, somehow the two wry necks are still alive. Mr kink neck had a lot of time to adapt, and is extremely healthy in every way... except for the kink in his neck. The one who developed wry neck a little later is not coping so well, she got extremely skinny and lethargic. The pot has been repurposed yet again into a temporary brooder so the poor quail can avoid being trampled. I’m now trying to get her weight back up manually feeding and watering her every hour.
Update on treatment - There were some positive reviews on Rooster Booster’s poultry cell from ByC, so I’m trying that now to see if it will help improve.
The quail with crooked toes managed to slip out of the tape I applied on one of his feet. so I’ve given up on it. It’s curled and stiff... I’m paranoid I would break a bone or something if I forcibly straightened it back out. He’s a little smaller than all the other quails, but otherwise alert and active.
So....One week in and my experience so far is telling me that quails are not so much fragile as they are prone to health problemsPerhaps it just happens that this line of quails bred for colored plumage and blue eggs are not as resilient as their plainer counterparts.
The brooder has been expanded via a second box from Aldi’s. It’s ghetto, but it was easy and it works! contrary to what I feared, the quailies don’t panic when I’m reaching in from above
