I never ended up going through with this. The weather has gotten so cold and I suddenly didn’t want to deal with the hassle of separately accommodating another pair of birds :’)

Came home and found all the quails running around the kitchen floor. Seems like I forgot to close the cage door last night, they shared the space with 3 cats for over 12 hours and were completely ignored.
