Hi 3 months ago I hatched some silkie chicks in the incubator from shipped eggs and 2 out of 4 chicks developed crooked toes over time. It was my first time raising chicks without a broody hen and I don't know if it was genetic or cos I was using a heating plate and their feet got cold? Also, both of them have it only on one foot.

So they're a month old, it had nothing to do with the heat plate ... It happens at times cause they're cramped in the egg, usually straighten out when dried and get their footing. When brooding it's best not to use newspaper but something (towel, paper towel, potty pads, shavings) that they can get their footing. Sometimes it's due to nutrition of the breeding pair, lacking enough vitamins (riboflavin deficiency). Get some Nutri Drench for them, tape their toes straight (Vet Wrap, changing weekly for growth).

What are you feeding? Are they able to move about? Pictures would help
