So glad to hear she's doing well! I was really concerned about a genetic component of pendulus crop more so than sour crop, but in either case seems completely normal now. I guess sour crop is possible because chicks eat things they shouldn't and can get blocked just like the big birds. I have two day old bantam chicks and one had me worried yesterday because it was doing a lot of open mouth adjusting almost as if it was having trouble breathing. I started to do mineral oil and massage, but after giving some fresh water and watching it drink, it appears it was just trying to clear a big piece of food. Completely back to normal now.My chick has been doing well after I started a treatment for sour crop. I used the monistat 2% and the chick’s crop did a 180. It feels normal now, is emptying at night, and she continues to thrive. She is a bit runty so maybe it was that, but I would swear sour crop based on symptoms. I have another day and half of treatment to go. As young as she was, I never thought sour crop was a possible issue, but I think it was.
I’m also doing probiotics in the water as an added measure to hopefully prevent anymore issues with the digestive tract.
