We have had some chicks hatch under mum and then another batch inside, all hatched with no issues, but we have a one week old who is now displaying some lethargic behaviour. We did an egg yolk slurry, water, and then a vitamin mix with water, through syringe feeding. She was able to get back up and was so much stronger and healthier than earlier in the day, she could walk and hold her self up way better again and wasn’t so sleepy, but I am now unsure if it is a sour crop issue and we should be withholding food. She is still passing poo quite well, some runny with solid mass, and some just completely solid. I don’t know what course of treatment to go down as both are quite different. I want to feed her nutrients if she’s displaying deficient, but I also don’t want to keep feeding if she has a crop issue. Her crop was large, but I’ve found it hard to tell if it’s just normal filling and emptying. Crop feels more squishy than hard, I don’t think there is a smell, I thought I could hear some bubbly like sound coming from her earlier in the day. Photos are of when she was more perky. She stretches her leg out and sometimes just goes straight to sleep, the other photo is of her sleeping, don’t know if that’s a normal sleep. Until today she normally sleeps with her feet under and head stretched out in front,, they all sleep like that. Other chicks don’t seem to have any issues, except crops get big, but they get crumble, starter, and some grit because we did have them have some meal worms, but have stopped since crops seem a bit enlarged.
