My Plymouth Rock hen, about 2 years old, has a crop that is hard as a rock and about 4 inches long by 1 inch wide. As soon as I noticed it, I gave her a 5 ml of mineral oil and isolated her with no food, just water. 24 hours later her crop was unchanged so I brought her inside, crates her and fed her 200 mg docusate sodium mixed with baby food peaches via syringe. Overnight she had minimal stool with no reduction in crop size. I repeated the peach-med conbo in the morning and then 4 hours later. She produced stool but again the crop is unchanged. She was drinking water on her own and ate some soft scrambled eggs. She remained alert and vigorous. Not knowing what else to do and unwilling to keep her isolated for a 3rd day, I gave her a warm sponge bath And put her back with her flock. She immediately went into the box and laid an egg. I am not experienced with crop issues at all and would appreciate any input or suggestions.
