crop question

Typically I notice the right side of my birds swelled up with food. Does the right side usually swell up first? And does the crop have a left and a right side because sometimes the whole breasted looks full and othertimes just the right but never just the left

The crop is located on the right side of the birds breast. As it eats, food is stored in the crop. It takes a few hours to fully empty into the stomach and if you check first thing in the morning the crop should be empty. There should be no swelling on the other side of the breast and maybe it just looks that way after it has eaten a large meal.

As long as your bird is eating, pooing and running around like most chickens do, all should be normal with the crop.
