My chicken is very lethargic and is finding it difficult to stand. To begin with I thought it may have been an impacted egg. She's since laid an egg which has smashed - I'm thinking this may have been due to her limited mobility rather than any egg problems.
Her crop was very swollen. I've emptied all the fluid from it. I don't know how bad a sour crop smells - I've read it's very bad. Her fluid was smelly but not so bad for me to think that it's sour - just smelly enough for what you would expect really. I have fully emptied the crop now, inside the crop feels very gritty but there's no big lumps. I do feed her oyster shells from pets at home as she only free ranges 1-2hrs a day.
I just want to know where to take it from here. I was thinking of buying some white maggots and seeing if this helped - she doesn't however have an appetite for water/food/yoghurt.. not even her favourite corn.
