This is Leia. Her beak got too long (I should’ve trimmed it, it is just stressful for both of us to do it) and broke. The broken piece is still attached but it starts bleeding whenever she moves it around too much. She is trying to eat but is struggling. She is also bullied by the other chickens and it is cold outside, so she is currently in my room. She has bowls of food and water. She is already underweight, any tips on fixing her beak and getting some weight on her?

Sorry about your chicken.I would trim the tip under the broken area when she can tolerate it. She will be in pain for awhile, so I would tube feed her. Unless you want her to forever be picked on I would place her back in the coop in a wire dog crate. Place food and water and deep enough bedding to snuggle in. Take her aside twice a day and tube feed her 15 ml per pound of weight 2-3 times a day. Put the tube down her right side into the back of her throat down into her crop. KayTee Exact Feed (from pet stires, Wlamart, and Amaze ) and water is what most people use. Adult hens can use a 16 French tube. Here is a feeding tube set with 3 sizes that might be good for her size:

So she made a HUGE mess in my room. I’ve got it cleaned up now. I think she may just have to be a house chicken for now. I’m looking for a chicken diaper pattern that I can sew. I will try to trim her beak tonight. I don’t think I can tube feed her (I’m not sure I could do it and I don’t think we have the stuff) so I made her layer feed into a paste and she at least tried to eat it. On the plus side she is pretty active. She follows me everywhere.

I would make that bowl three times as deep as that is. The goal is to allow her to peck and not hit bottom. :) You might waste some feed, but she will be a lot more comfortable peck at the food if she doesn't hit bottom.
