Cross bred RIR x RIR ?

6 weeks after my RIR decided it was time to leave her Brahma chicks and now she’s broody again.

I will not be ordering any hatching eggs as all the local breeders have been sold out!

She’s free ranged with a cross breed RIR rooster

Any ideas on what the chicks will be like ?

Will they look like pure RIRS or will they be sex linked ?

They will not be sex links. I don't know what you mean by look like sex links. You can make sex links from a lot of different crosses so they can have a lot of different appearances. A lot of what the chicks look like will depend on what he was crossed with. Since he is a cross, different chicks may have different appearances. They should be mostly red though.

It looks like you may have different breeds and colors of hens. I'm sure you are aware you can hatch any of those. It does not have to be her eggs.

It will be interesting. You never know. I have played around with cross breeding in the past. I thought these would be sex-able by color. They both turned out to be pullets.
