Yeah! Go ahead and put him in there! The eggs won't hatch unless incubated and long as you collect them at least every 3 days there shouldn't be a problem. Fertilized eggs are fine to eat, I have eaten several 3 day old fertile eggs. I'd collect every day when its hot though. But no, less you let your hens set on them they won't hatch.
Give him a chance and see how it goes, I doubt he can do any harm being so tiny.
And DO NOT worry about eating fertile eggs! Its perfectly safe! if anything its better for you!
