What did you do in the garden today?

Just thinking... the way some items may go up with what is happening around the world. It is a great time to grow a garden and save what money you can.
I know I’ve been strongly reconsidering what I’m going to plant. The major part of my garden maintenance is looking like it will need to be put off regardless and the rest isn’t supposed to be until September. I was going to stick to short season stuff or things small enough to move easily - like leafy greens - but now I’m wondering if I should plant some of the big viney things anyway.

Hey on pepper plants FYI you can root cuttings. You can buy plants and have twice as many by taking a cutting from the top.

And tomatoes
I knew that about tomatoes but not about peppers. Since potatoes are in the same family I'm guessing you could root cuttings from them too. I'm not growing potatoes this season but maybe someone could try it.

Maybe a good idea! Plant what your family likes to eat. A lot of plants will be done before September.

I used to grow beans because the kids liked playing in the teepee when they were young. Beans aren't the favorite vegetable of any of us though so I grew hyacinth beans because the vine was so pretty to look at.

Last year I planted some black turtle beans along the outside of the chicken pen. I finally found someone(s) who likes beans - plant and all.

Same here. Red, orange, and yellow bells along with habanero. Sadly the only jalapenos the grocery sells are green still and the seeds are unripe. We use a lot of those and cayennes in cooking.

From the Asian market last year we saved other varieties but as little of those we use, we gathered plenty of fruit and I'll not be planting any this year.

I had some luck with unripe peppers. let them sit for a few weeks in partial shade and they might ripen.

Pulled weeds today. Trying to beat the seeding of the brome grasses and whatever the purple flowing curling tail seed plant is. I've cut down the population pretty good but I know I'll miss some.

Spent most of the day getting things ready for funeral processions for my DHs Grandpa.

We're going to Ridgecrest tomorrow for the viewing and funeral. The funeral is Friday, the day before DH birthday. We're taking our camper and going to camp with the family since we'll all be together. Try to make some good out of it all.
