OK I've been thinking for years {even the ones I didn't have birds} about how much I would like to see a few other colored Sebright. what genetics I get are how the blue/black/splash works, and lavender dalutes/softens other base colors.

What I'd like to get,
Changes in lace color, blue, and red to start with.
Changes in base color, blue, black, with contrasting lace colors, like blue/black, blue/red, blue/white, black/white, black/red, black/blue
Better mothers- lay more, go broody.

Would it be easyer to change the lace or base color?
I'm thinking lace, but I really don't know.

How would I get red lace?
would I need to use RIR bantam? they are the only solid red banny I can think of. or could I use one of the other breeds I'm thinking of

What breed should I use for blue/black Rosecomb or OEGB?
I think Rosecome would be better, rose combed, eggs are white, mothering traite would be helpfull, but what about the white earlobes? how hard will that be to breed out? I know there is no hen feathering in ether breed.

How would you do it? What color{s} would you go for first?

I know this will take years, and more then likely be a life time thing unless I sell out. a lot of money, and a lot of space. But I blan to take it one step at a time.
And I'm looking out for Chicken Genetice books and sites

arent you all glad I said I was crazy to start with. lol

I'll be keeping an eye on this. Though part of me detests any other color Sebright, curiosity has me. I'd imagine that if you want a Blue laced Red or something of the like, that you would use a bantam Wyandotte, but then type would be an issue as well. From my limited experience, I hatched out a SebrightxBlack Australorp in July. The boy turned out to be partially hen feathered and bigger than his father. As far as earlobes, I'm not sure if that's a big deal or not or if they are ignored.

Now you've got me thinking

well I don't really like the idea of barred or solid colored Sebrights, after all lacing is what they are knowen for. but I do think other colors would get the breed a little larger fan club, as would better laying & brooding

I forgot there was bantam Wyandottes, but like you said "typ" would be was off. hmm...choises
blue lace will be my first goal, and I have a blue OGEB roo, but I mite try to get a Blue Rosecomb roo, and kinda fuge around for the first season??? see what cross I like better befor I really jump in.

what I'm really clueless on is the earlobes and if White Laced Black is posible

I'm glad I got more wheels turning

Since Lavender changes black to Self Lavender and Red to Buff or Cream I would think that you could try crossing a Gold laced Sebright with a Lavender ( Self Blue ) and with some time you could get some Lavender Laced Buffs or Lavender Laced Creams.

Oh I did not even think of that chirs, Lavender Laced Buffs

I tried the chicken befor just for bule lace and it showed it would work part of the time, but yesterday it was just showing black or white

and I know I did the same cross. http://kippenjungle.nl/Overzicht.htm#kipcalculator this is it right? or is there another one.

I just tried Lavender x Golden Sebright just for kicks, and it came out all solid black, I know thats not ture.

Right! Lavender should/will turn Black to Self Lavender... I did that same cross and got the same thing.. ( got all Black ).. It could be a glitch or something...
You could ask Kris or Tadkerson (he did the Sex-linked sticky) and see what they say..
