Question about cross breeding Royal Palm with a Slate blue hen can it be crossed successfully and not harm the quality of the meat taste?

Reason I'm asking is I just got a tom Royal Palm and Slate blue hen given to me, they named them and couldn't eat them. I'm not apposed to not breeding them but if it can be done for food purposes I'm game. Not worried about keeping it purebred.

Thanks and hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

absolutely it can be done. it won't make any difference in the taste of the meat.

there is a calculator on porters heritage turkey site that will tell what babies will look like.

turkeys have a lot more personality than chickens. they are easy to get attached too.

enjoy your new turkeys.

Merry Christmas

Thanks I actually looked at that calculator and inputted the data and it came back looking decent but wanted to make sure about the taste. Nothing worse than messing with mother nature!!

My experience was that the crosses grew faster and got a little bigger than the Slates. What they are fed will have a greater effect on the taste than anything else will.
