Oh that is great!! Thank you!! Right now the males are rather aggressive towards the two orphaned Mallards. When they come up to eat they chase the mallards away. These are pictures of the orphans

So cute!!! I keep two food bowls to try to avoid any fighting or hogging.

The Mallards are just fed on the bank or yard, my ducks eat in the pen from their feeder.

Very pretty ducks but wild so they probably won't stick around once fall arrives. Don't you think they will migrate.

True, and the chances of ducks having something contagious is much lower than chickens but there is no way I'm risking my beloved ducks, especially after seeing the living conditions of some Craigslist ad ducks, when quarantining them is such an easy way to completely avoid that. Can't hurt after all, and makes me feel better. I would never forgive myself if something so easily preventable happened to one of my ducks. Just my personal opinion.

Yes....That's great....I also love my Ducks...Its just not necessary like with Chickens....All I was saying....

Yes I am sure that the Mallards will Migrate but I just could not take care of them when their mommy abandoned them or got killed. They were so little at the time, not even a month old I would say. What kind of duck mommy would I be if I didn't foster orphaned ducklings. haha

The mallards listen to me better than my ducks do!! Yes we live on a creek and we were having some bad storms, microbursts and heavy rains around this time. The creek rises and rushes and I was just a nervous wreck about them being swept away off the waterfall.

Sorry - I didn't mean to imply that you don't love your ducks! It's so hard to get across tone on a forum.

Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks recommends quarantining new adult ducks, so that's what I do. I tend to be overly cautious in many areas of my life though lol.
