Cross breeding?

I crossed some buff orpingtons with white rocks and got some ugly little muthas. The chicks are black and look suspiciously like barred rocks.

It's been fun identifying our first batch of crossbred chicks! We had two white roos( from the hatchery, extra males included for warmth. No idea what they are) and an EE roo out tending to the ladies so we've been guessing who the parents are as each baby hatches. I can identify most of my hens' eggs individually so depending on the baby's color, we guess the dad. I've got a lot of black chicks with yellow spots on their heads hatching from brown eggs (most likely a dominique or barred rock mom) and a lot of yellow (EE mom, white roo dad?) and chipmunks (EE mom/ EE dad) from blue eggs. It's a lot more exciting to talk about than it is to type ;P

I have only done one cross breed and ended up with "Los gallos del Diablo" or The roosters of the devil.

These were White Rock roosters and my Silver Sebright hens. For some reason they kept the attitude of the Sebrights and took the size of the White Rocks. Demon birds I tell you...

Lucky I didn't cross the Sebrights with say an ostrich.

Oh by the way...I've got some crossbreeds hatching as I type! White Rock roo and Buff Orpington, SIlver Wyandotte, RIR, and EE moms. So far they all look yellow.
