Any one have broad breasted crosses with Beltsville Small White toms or Hollands or other breeds? We are considering a small breeding flock to produce some meat birds each summer. Since male bb whites and bronze are too large to mate what about keeping another "older production" type tom(s) to fertalize the bb hens? How would this work. I'm especially interested in hearing about Beltsville toms over bb hens.
What is the laying pattern for turkeys? When do they begin to lay and for how long? How many eggs per week can be expected from a turkey hen? Stupid question but are they like chickens in that they will lay unfertilized eggs during their season?
How well would turkeys house with chickens through the winter? Any concerns about agression towards the chickens even if poults where raised around them?
