Who is living a nice, dull, quiet life? I am pulling up my tent stakes and joining a Buddhist monastery. This is truly ridiculous.
My friend Ted is finally doing battle with a recurrent cancer they held at bay for 2 years. This is no surprise to anyone, Ted included. The suprise is that Ted appointed my hubby his guardian of legal affairs, the term for it completely eludes me just now, not his wife, his sons, or his bossy, horrid daughter. Ted hasn't been able to come home and they have transferred him from one hospital to another to another and Ted is so bad off he didn't even know about who had visited or where he was. So now hubby is trying to soothe everyone's nerves and help the wife figure out what to do.
Then there is the drug kingpin thing. Bah!
And now as I am cruising out to feed the babies a truck pulls up in the driveway and I think it's Albert. Well, it was Albert's truck from a couple of years ago but now it belongs to Albert's stepdaughter. She hops out of the passenger seat, sort of agitated, and wants to see hubby. So I let her in the house, hubby is watching a movie and eating lunch and this young woman says Albert has been in a terrible accident and was life flighted to Sacramento. I asked what happened and she said his throat had been slashed. Try and do what I did, envision an accident that results in your throat being slashed...tough, right? Okay, so then she says her mom is in jail and we need to get her out. Huh? Her mom us Albert's wife and is truly crazy and frightening so I automatically think that the wife slashed Albert's throat...? Huh? Why would we get her out of jail? No, wait, Jeanette attacked someone with a hammer...can we get the keys to her van? Hammer? Van? Now, hours later, things are more clear. Some guy on a bicycle got into an altercation with Albert and Jeanette when they were driving and the guy was riding a bike. The bicycle rider stabbed or slashed Albert in the throat. Jeanette did what I would have done and attacked the bicycle rider with the nearest weapon, a hammer. Albert was stabilized and life flighted to a trauma hospital and then transferred to UC Davis medical center. Hubby is the center of the uproar, the hub of information and apparently the holder of an endless supply of cash to bail people out of jail. Gah! Gah gah!!
I am turning off my phone, my tv, my connection with the world!! This is crazy! The most difficult part of my day should be deciding if we should have coffee or tea for breakfast! I didn't sign up for this sort of excitement.
