Cross Continental Friends!!!

Oh wow, that's a long while! I'm such a odd ball, I love paper mills, I went to one when I was a lot younger and I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I can't believe that's all the security guards make, it must be a labor of love then.

He did love it! He was happy to go back to the mill cuz it meant insurance an more pay but it also meant a lot harder work. Now he has 3 floors in a place the size of a foot ball field to run arnd searching for a problem or a man. The best thing they ever did was to buy the bosses cell phones. That made their day a lot easier. Plus in winter it's over a 110 the dryers make it super hot! Never mind should a person call in sick, then your running arnd looking for a mate but it goes by seniority and who is trained on that job and all. It was a pulp and paper mill. They used to take the trees and make it into pulp for the men to make into paper. Now it's only a paper mill. That part was torn down, no one purchased it. As a guard he had to watch the security camera's, record the gauges, walk the halls and check the doors, you know. But the bad part was having to guard people who are on/off drugs or booze, or are out of their mind. One lady he had to watch kept taking all her clothes off because she thought bugs were walking all over her. She was all messed up, and who wouldn't..her hubby had diein bed a week +/- before and she was found w/ him in her arms. She could not leave him. But when he found out he was going back to the mill, he had told his boss of the security co. and he e-mailed the big boss of the hospital cuz he was nights and he didn't always see him. When the boss came in, he must of read his email right off cuz he came straight down to him and said if there was ever any job there that he could help him get, to only mention it to him and he would get the job! When the staff found out, the nurses were so upset. He would watch out for them, to not get hurt or anything. So many of them cried, they sent him cards and he was the only guard who ever won a gift cert. from the hosp. to be used in there gift shop. It was for people there that went above and beyond what was expected of them. He would clean the snow off windshields for people that he felt could use the help. Walk girls to their cars at night (bears & boogiemen). Things like that, He won it 3 xs! A few of the other guards would be upset cuz they never won any, honey would say that they never did anything, anyway.
Okay..

Sure you can have the recipe. I'm interested to see how it turns out. I hope I haven't fluffed it up by not frying it straight away. I'll find out tomorrow and let you know. Not sure why brine it's just what the recipe said. I'm pooped. Finally finished though so makes tomorrow a bit easier, all I have to do from scratch are the chips. He'd better appreciate all this! I've lost a couple of his gifts. I hid them somewhere safe and have no clue where! Oops! Your hubby sounds like a great guy :)

Thanks, I'm sure yours is especially good or else why would he of kept you for so long. lol
We'll be 38 yr's come fall. We like to be together, we used to tear down buildings to only reuse the lumber to build something else. Our 1st home was a 2 bdrm one story which we tore down a 2 unit floor of an apt bldg. We built a whole floor over the roof of the house. Once we had the outer walls windows and roof (shingled)made the walls up then me took a chain saw and from the inside of the upstairs he cut thru the shingles and dropped the roof down onto the ceiling. Off the 4 walls there was only 1 wall that we had to shim a 1/4" to make them even. We made the upstairs front smaller than the back. So it would not be straight walls. This way we kept the siding downstairs and shingled the upstairs. That just cost us the hardwood flooring 1/2 bathrm roofing sheetrock and windows. The insulation we got from a construction site that got it wet. We laid it over the roof to dry so it came free. Plus I had time to dip the shingles into the stain and so they were totally stained by the time they went up. From what we can see, it's been 18 yr's since we sold the place, but the siding is still the same. We did the same thing here. It was a 3 bdrm split entry and MIL wanted to move in so we tore down a garage and a lrg storge shed. We used that lumber to go over our 30x60 ft garage. We removed the shingles and 4x8 plywood and then we removed the rafters (I hope I'm right) and kept them together. We built up and 1/2 went for his shop and 1/2 went to enlarge some rooms and a walk-in closet for us. That just cost us the sheetrock insulation and roofing and flooring. I volunteer at St. Vincents Thrift Store and I get a lot of things at a really great price. I wish I was still there, since the girls I don't have the strength to go there also. When I do, I have to have the DH do the cooking and I hate to bother him to much. He has more than enough to do for me!

Wow Nancy! Your husband sounds like an adorably sweet man! I hope to find a guy like him one day! And your building/remodeling sounds amazing! On our land my dad wants to build miniature homes for all us kids to live in, while we get started out in the big wide world, lol. I can't wait to get started on them, I really think I'll love living minimal! Just a short one tonight, sorry about that. Had a long day and am really tired! See Ya'll!

Wow, you guys sound like quite the handy renovators! There's a lot if money to be made in property. I've been brought up having parents who've moved let me count... 8 times at the mo and I'm 26. They've split up now but will be interesting to see which one it is that has the moving bug! But yeah they always bought old properties which needed a lot of work, would do them up. Get bored and move! I would love to either do a timber framed self build or renovate an old building back to life. It's so sad when old buildings are left to go derelict.

we're not married yet lol. He's abit older than me and was married before and has a son. She ended up running off (though not exactly as it happened while Angus was still with her in the house) with his best friend who was staying with them and getting pregnant (even though she didn't want more kids and made Angus get the snip which causes issues with him and i). Worst thing was his best friend let him come and stay at his tattoo parlor when they'd split up, Angus had no idea it was him. And now the 'best friend' has left her for someone else - isn't karma a *****! Anyway so he has reservations about marriage and finding a way to have kids incase it goes wrong again, Pfft. Sorry probably too much information there! It's quite an active subject right now! Sigh.
