@ Willow, poor thing! Yeah I imagine he would have lost so much blood he would need to be put down. Sounds like you guys tried your best though. How is your little baby this morning? Oh and how is your foal?

He's being a butt He's trying to get out of the big dog crate we put him in. Blake slept over, he wants to make sure the baby was ok, he's trying to bottle feed it he's practically getting his hands bit off

I posted that I wanted a Silkie and this guy got a hold of me stating he had 2 silkie sisters. So we agree to meet and I was sick so DD went for me. DD stated that they didn't look a thing like ours but he said the head poof would come in time. So DD took them figuring they were what I wanted. It was suppost to be the 2 black one (sisters) was the agreement. He brought the white one along hoping to be rid of them all, "So he wouldn't have to feed them threw the winter". They are diff. but I am going to make my own unique birds with my roosters. II couldn't see a pic of them cuz he didn't know how to do it. This is what he brought home!

They look almost like Silkie/Cochin crosses, called Silkichins. That black one has an interesting color.

Aww, my grandad was a Vet and he raised a litter of pure bob cat's, It's an interesting story really, the mother was trying to cross the road and she got hit and was giving birth all at the same time, so grandpa was called and he had to perform a C section and then put the poor thing down she was in so much pain and injured so badly and so he took the babies home and raised them. And then my Great Aunt raised a Mountain Lion named Traitor, I've seen pics of her, she was reallly something!! Best of luck to you!

The friends who are helping will be here any minute and I am still in bed. My knees hurt! It's raining! I want a cup of coffee! Harrumph! Karen

Today is rabbit butcher day and I am not looking forward to it. The friends who are helping will be here any minute and I am still in bed. My knees hurt! It's raining! I want a cup of coffee! Harrumph!

WOW! kinda small world isnt it? how old is she when you met? what does she look like as a filipino?

well i think she moved here in 6th grade. she went to my school in 6th grade but she didnt know much english so she was mostly quiet but then once we were in 9th she was extremely talkative and was a totally different person than when she was in middle school. and i dont know how to explain what she looks like except that she looks like a phillipino? she is pretty short and she has i think long hair right now but i havent talk to her in like a year or two. and the rest of her family is short too i think she is taller than her mom and dad.

It is well established in my group of friends ( we call ourselves The Clever Cleaver Sisters) that I do not do the killing. That's for someone else. But after something is dead I don't mind the gutting and whatnot. I mean, dead is pretty final and my karma is still intact cause I didn't do it and you can find some pretty interesting stuff inside bodies. We got however many done and one of my friends volunteered to take my purebred rabbits to a show to give them away to other breeders as ain't nobody buying rabbits. I need a break, it's been 10 years with rabbits and feed is $16 for 50 pounds and I an getting no joy from rabbit owning.
We can't sell adults.
We can't sell young stock.
We can't sell butchered rabbits for human condumption, it's illegal!
Our only markets are driving an hour or more to meet a buyer with a truck on the interstate to get $1.39 a pound live weight, a money losing proposition. We can sell to dog owners who feed raw dog food for .99 cents a pound dressed weight (!!). At .99 cents we might as well pay the people to take the dressed rabbits!
I'm pretty much done.

Wow! Haha, same here, I can not kill it, I could if I had to but I don't, but I can butcher all day long, it is a little bit fun in a morbid way. It's 18 $ for a 50 pound bag here!
