I honestly DON'T KNOW. What I have read is that the generation AFTER the Sex-Link will NOT be Sex-Linked.

HOWEVER, I, personally, would suspect that any chicks produced that happen to have a "White-spot" on the top of their heads would more likely be Roosters....let us all know what you may learn from this!

(I have 16 Black Sex-Link chicks that will have a Red Sex-Link Rooster to deal with when they mature.) (I don't expect Sex-Link characteristics to appear.)

To me that makes since, I was also wondering because to produce the BSl you mix a RIR roo or a New Hampshire roo with a barred rock. Red over black so I was wondering if I bred her back to a rir would the same princpal apply or would the offspring be 75% RIR and 25% hybrid and show most of the RIR traits. I dunno but I am interested to see how it pans out. Logic tells me that it will be 3/4 RIR and be colored the same or a little darker than a RIR. I currently have 2 RIR hens a BSL hen I am experimenting with I am gonna hatch some of each and compare chicks through adulthood...

Although I don't understand it very well, I have "played with" a Chicken Calculator that you can find on a "Search" here.

It gives you some suspected results, sorta....it is a lot confusing to me, but there are people here on these Forums that truely understand using the Chicken Calculator.

You might TRY playing with it.....

1/2 of the chicks will be similar to the black sex link and 1/2 will be black tailed red. The black tailed red will have some black on their bodies.
