I think the first black Jersey roo I had took lessons from a Silkie sensei. I called him Birdzilla. He was the Spawn of Silkie. He had my daughter terrified.

We only have one JG hen and she is a sweet bird. I'd love a JG rooster but
can't do the rooster thing. I can't imagine a 15 pound rooster.

what determins if ya get a splash from breeds.is just somethng that happens?

You get splash when you breed two blues. Splash is the result of doubling up the blue gene. One gene will make a black bird blue.

this is 2 of the darker colored chicks i got in this cross the rest turned out white.

this one looks to be mixed in color? what ya think?

yes the only roo is a white leghorn.

You may have lucked out. Out of our 25 crosses, with a White Leghorn as dad, all
were white. Now a few at 7 weeks are starting to sprout various color feathers
but they are still mostly white.
