Do you know how much any of the others gained?

The rate of gain varies a lot. It is affected by breed and gender, as well as by age and I think food and season of the year can affect it too.

Comparing with the others can give you some idea of what is "normal" for healthy chicks of that age in your conditions (especially if they are the same breed and gender, but somewhat useful even if they are other breeds and/or other genders.)

Where is my head at good thinking so my frizzle has gained 2.5 grams and Lola has gained 2 grams. It is looking good!

Lola has steadily been gaining weight, but since she is getting more confident, she has started chest bumping the chicks that I know are cockerels does this mean my Lola is showing signs of being a cockerel?

Maybe, but maybe not.
Pullet chicks do that too.

She has just had her lunch and I noticed it is causing her problems now, so I will do it today…I’m nervous as anything in case I go to far or hurt her.

Okay, first, could I get just a couple more really clear pictures from an angle similar to the second picture? I just want to be sure of what I’m looking at. It’s hard when the bird isn’t right in front of my eyes. This is about all I see as of right now, but I would like to be sure that I’m seeing what I think I’m seeing-

Alright, looks like you should be able to trim it back about this far-

Her top beak doesn’t have much, so you can either trim it down just the smallest bit or wait until next time. Remember to have your grinding tool on the lowest setting and to go slow. If there is any sign of blood, stop immediately. Usually, when I use a grinding tool, if I hit the quick, it will bleed the tiniest bit, not dripping, and it will stop bleeding almost immediately thereafter, so be sure to watch closely, and if there is any blood, as long as it’s not bad, just call it good, and leave her be.

Thank you so much I am that nervous, I’m getting palpitations! I think I will hold her and let my hubby do the filing, I’ll let you know how it goes

It went really well. We didn’t go to far because it was our first time, but she was really good

Do you think it is ok? I gave her some fish for being a good little girl! I’m trying to get as much into her as possible because she is tiny
