crossing a game rooster with a dominic hen

I have two roosters that are dominique x game. Here is one of them. Hen was dominique, rooster was game.

ccflash,

Are you certain your sire is a game rooster? He seems too heavy in build and has white earlobes.

Did you keep any of the female crosses?

No these were here when I bought my new house. It may not be. What do you suppose it is.

I am not knowledgable enough to say what it is, just that I think not game (American, Old English or Oriental). In respect to breeds, I am only competent with American games and dominiques.

I will effort to provide detailed developmental pictures, likely in another thread entitled "Feather Set Replacement". Feather sets with measures of primary interest but coloration will be evident as well.

My game chickens are 4 weeks and a few days old and thriving, Dominiques should start hatching tommorow. Sure would love to see a picture or two of your crosses when you get the chance.

The two birds shown are pushing 4 weeks post-hatch. Dam is dominique and sire American game.

Male is showing barring much like a proper dominique pullet would. Female nearly black with some red / brown showing on tips of contour feathers. Both have longer flight feathers than pure dominique.

Following shows coloration of half-sibling American games by sire. Dam is also their aunt.

Thanks for the pictures. I got five Dominique chicks hatched yesterday and they all appear to be cockerals. I hope I'm wrong.

Something not making sense with dominique hen x game rooster (brown breasted brown-red) chicks. About 1/2 chicks have a rose comb, balance have what appears to be a single comb. Game rooster I suspect is heterozygous for single and pea comb in that it is intermediate. Father of sire is pea combed and mother of sire has single comb. From what I have read, a bird that carries alleles for rose comb and pea comb should have a walnut comb but that does not appear to be case with my chicks.
