Crossing Araucana with Sicilian Buttercup?

I have a Sicilian Buttercup hen who I love, and would like chicks from. I have three roosters, but my salmon faverolle and large cochin don't seem like good fits. This just leaves my Araucana rooster, however they both have such unique traits that I wonder about the chicks that would be produced.

From what I understand of their genetics the buttercup's comb is dominant, and so is the araucana's rumpless gene. What about the upright posture of the araucana and possible colors though?

Photos of the two:

It would certainly be an interesting cross. I don't know anyone who has done that before. I had Salmon Faverolles and Sicilian Buttercups at one time, but never crossed them.

Seems like everyone with an Araucana is using them for a project,so not much information on crossbreeding. I just happen to not have any other smaller roosters to utilize, and I love both birds.

From what information I can find the offspring would be rumpless, buttercup's comb,a more upright stature than the buttercup, but the color I have no idea.

Only one way to find out... Breed those chickens! :thumbsup.
And be sure to keep us posted with photo's as the results grow! :pop:caf

Kind of a messy black for the offspring. All will be rumpless.
50 percent of the female offspring will have gold leakage, 50 percent with silver leakage.
50 percent of the male offspring will have gold leakage, 50 percent will have golden leakage (like their father.)
And their combs will be some kind of weird duplexy thingy I believe.

Interesting so the buttercups spotting will be lost then,or is that what gold leakage refers to?

There may be some black spotting on the gold bits. If you want something more “pencilled” per say, I would use the salmon Faverolles rooster.
You will get red golden messy pencilled males and red silver messy pencilled females.

He *may* produce some chicks that are more pencilled pattern than black. I can’t tell by looking at him whether his black is split for wheaten, birchen, duckwing, or partridge or if it isn’t split for any of those.
