Crossing BB Red w/OEGB Question

I have some OEGB eggs in the incubator. If I have pullets from these eggs and put them with my BB Red rooster, will they still be game birds? This is new to me and I'm confused on "game bird" classification as opposed to breeds. Is BB Red a breed? Someone gave him to me and I've been trying to research him. I've found him on McMurray but that is all.

I also have some mutt eggs from my little cornish cross hen. She has a different rooster suitor but I'm not sure what breed he is, not BB Red. I was going to put some of her chicks in too.

So what makes a bird a "game bird?" Will the offspring of the OEGB and BB Red be considered just crosses?

BB Red is a color of a bird, not a breed. Much like blue, wheaten, golden are color descriptions of birds. If you have an old english game bantam hen and an old english game bantam rooster, hatched those eggs into pullets then yes they would be game hens. Without knowing what breed your hen and rooster are, it is difficult to know what will be hatching. But good luck on your hatch, chicks are loads of fun.

OEGB is Old English Game Bantam.
BB Red is Black Breasted Red.
OEGB is the breed.
BB Red is the type or color variation of that breed just as is Wheaten or White or Silver Duckwing.
If you are breeding your OEGB to a BB Red which I am assuming is also a OEGB then you still end up with an OEGB. It is just a matter of what color the chicks will be.

What breed of bb red do you have? I have black rosecombs and have wheaten oegb eggs in the bator now. I am crossing them and will have mutts in the first generation... but when I breed them back to rosecomb, I will get some wheaten rosecombs. As soon as your breeding program brings you back to birds which conform to that standard, you have that breed.

BB Red is a color as many has already said. But what is the breed of the chicken that is your BB Red? Is it an Old English too? Or is it another type. Photos would be great!

This is my BB Red rooster. I actually have two just like him. I don't know what breed he is. Someone gave him to me and said he was a BB Red.

This is my other rooster with his hen. Someone from the board said he is an Asil.

I'm not breeding for anything specific. They are just farm birds and something I've found that I really enjoy. I've got a couple of her eggs in the incubator and the Asil should be the daddy.

It appears that your "BB RED" has yellow legs. Does it? If so it's not an Old English.
