Where does the size of the chicks come from if crossing a large and small breed? Would size of the offspring be determined mostly by hen, rooster or middle ground from both?

If crossing standard sized Rooster with bamtam hen the Cross Will be the average of both parent. When crossing a bamtam Rooster with a standard hen the Cross is expected to be on the small side if said bamtam has sex linked dwarf genetics

Interesting, would it be any different if the smaller breed wasn't a dwarf? I'm not sure if a Phoenix has a dwarf gene or not. Those are the small chickens I'm wanting to play around with. I'll try "The Google" and see if I can find out.

My Ayam cemani roo is apparently quite the sneaky bugger.. I have some fairly tiny bantam hens that he managed to fertilize.. a lot of them. So I guess I'm starting a mini melanistic army.. my oldest ones are 10 weeks and not very big. See what happens over the next few weeks!
