Will crossing a cuckoo maran (barred) rooser with a red sexlink hen produce sex-linked chicks and if so, will the hens lay darker brown eggs?

No. A Red Roo over a barred hen creates a sex link. And hens from the cross you mentioned would lay inbetween colored eggs darker than a sex link but not as dark as a Maran.

Red sex-links are crosses themselves so the offspring could be any given color from the parents or grandparents. Yes, BLACK sex-links are made from a RIR rooster of Barred Rock hens, red sex-links are made from various red and white chickens(RIR, RIW, White Rocks, certain Leghorns.) I think so are some combinations.
