Crossing Laced Chickens?

What do you get when you cross gold, silver, etc, lacing colors? Does anyone have any pictures?

I have some Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and a few Silver Laced Wyandottes. I'd like to cross the Blue rooster over the Silver hens.

Will it be a weird-colored lacing? Come out more spangled?

Not much help here but the blue and the black gene are related so I would think the black in the lacing of the SLW would result in more black lacing and not be replaced by blue.

I could very much be wrong. I am sure someone who knows more will be along shortly.

Blue and black are not related. Blue dilutes black, but has little affect on red.

Lacing is caused by the pattern gene (Pg).

The BLR is gold, and the silver laced is silver, so you are creating a sex-linked cross. The outcome is different with a silver laced male & BLR female.

blue laced red rooster over silver laced hen will give you blue laced red and black laced red pullets and the cockerals ill be black or blue laced with silver bodies and most likely buttery hackles & saddles and red shoulders.

Thanks, Sonoran. So the chicks will be sex linked with a BLR x SL cross. What will the chicks look like? I'm mostly interested in whether there would be silver splashes in the BLR chicks, or blue/red splashes in the SL chicks.

I may have to get some more SL hens...

I thought about combining BLR and GL, but I heard that once you get gold into your BLR genes it's virtually impossible to go back to red. I didn't want to mess things up. Especially with all of the Blue Laced Gold chicks out there being sold as Blue Laced Reds.

I've heard that the Pg gene is extremely difficult to maintain if you cross it with a solid color. I have a couple Easter Egger hens that have blue/gold lacing on the neck feathers, then a mostly gold-colored body. I know the genetics are funky with Easter Eggers since they're a mish-mash of virtually anything, but do you think that if I crossed an Easter Egger hen that already shows some signs of lacing with a BLR or SL rooster I could get more defined lacing?

Lastly...is there a book on chicken genetics? I know there are websites, but I want to sit and stare at a book for genetics and try to figure all of this out. I'm too interested in color patterns and breeding experiments to not have something to refer.

well i know if you cross the sebrights gold and silver you get buff with white lacing or citrus color go to feathersite.com and look at the sebright page to see the colors out of them
