What Are The Laws For Crossing The Streets? I Was Walking Home From School And I Walked By A Elementary School As I Crossed The Street (inbetween Two Yellow/orange School Crossing Lanes) I Was Halfway In The Mddle When A Cop Car Passed In Front Of Me I Got Mad And Yelled "isnt That Illegal?" She Pulled Over And Told Me That It Ws My Fault For Not Looking Around...now I Wan To Know If I Can Get Her In Trouble And Is It Illegal What She Did? I Did Look Around Btw

Yes she is suppose to stop for people in a school crosswalk.

Did you cross IN a crosswalk, or between two different crosswalks? If you were IN a crosswalk, you may have had the right of way--it will vary by state. If you were between crosswalks, then I doubt you had any sort of right of way: you were jaywalking.

Also, there may be a difference between whether there was a signal light or stop sign at the crosswalk. And in some places school crosswalks are only effective during specific timeframes (for examply 7-8:30 am and 2:30-4pm on schooldays.

I general I believe a pedestrian has the right of way, mind you if you don't cross at a cross walk or you cross when it says not to I think they could nail you for jaywalking. But the cop could argue they were addressing a call of some sort, but they still should of check about and showed more caution. Also, it being a school, if you pursue trying to get them into trouble, you could bring up their speed, lol could add more insult to injury if they were cruising above 25mph in a school zone, while not being aware of their surroundings, again, in a school zone.

All motor vehicle traffic are supposed to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. I would call the chief.

i was walking in a school walkway and it was around 12:30-1:00pm my high school had a minimum day but the elementary school didnt. and she wasnt going fast im just mad because she drove right in front of me in a school walkway. i dont know her name. how can i get her in trouble for not following the law?

You should of gotten her name or badge # or car #/licence plate. Since you don't you can go to the police station and tell them the time and area and they may be able to find out which car/officer was in that area.
