crossing US/Canada border with live chickens?

Anyone have experience with this? We're considering a move from Maine to AK so we'd be crossing into Canada and then back into the US via the Yukon/AK highway route...I read somewhere there are border vets that will check their health - any quarantine necessary? Anyone know more details or who to contact at both borders? Thanks much!

we moved from AK back home to NC thus year. last year we drove across the border we were going to drive that Road sucks any way we were taking our ferrets and they have to have a paper from the vet saying that they are fine and ok to pass the border it has to be the paper that says they can travel rember that also it has to be within 30 days of your cross date. o by the way we lived in AK for 2 years it is sooo freaking awsome we just got back home this Feb. if you have any questions just ask ok. also its best to call both borders both of them lol you can fins the numbers on line because you would hate to take them that far them them say you can't cross. :'(
