Over the past few weeks my rooster, a Silkie named Pickles has been crowing at almost the exact same time every night. At around 12:00pm I am awoken by faint crowing from inside the coop. It's pitch dark and all the other hens are silent. I have absolutely no clue what his idea is or if he even knows what he's doing. I have been known to talk in my sleep so I can't point fingers at possibly innocent Cockerels but it is starting to get me concerned. Perhaps it's a lack of a particular brain cell or perhaps unknown to me, the chickens a hold late night parties
or perhaps unknown to me, the chickens a hold late night parties . I am sceptical of the latter.

Any ideas?

No, that's interesting though! We have had 2 fox attacks relatively recently which might mean he's on high alert?
