Over the past few weeks my rooster, a Silkie named Pickles has been crowing at almost the exact same time every night. At around 12:00pm I am awoken by faint crowing from inside the coop. It's pitch dark and all the other hens are silent. I have absolutely no clue what his idea is or if he even knows what he's doing. I have been known to talk in my sleep so I can't point fingers at possibly innocent Cockerels but it is starting to get me concerned. Perhaps it's a lack of a particular brain cell🥴 or perhaps unknown to me, the chickens a hold late night parties🍻. I am sceptical of the latter.

Any ideas?

Roosters have “internal clocks” and sometimes, they are set too early. What I mean is, the rooster might get messed up, and “set the clock too early” which is why he’ll crown then. Then again, it could be because there might be “danger” nearby.

Here is a pic that might help

Can I turn the clock back?🤣 No, that's interesting though! We have had 2 fox attacks relatively recently which might mean he's on high alert?
