Crowing...........at this age???

my Lindy a barred rock roo has crowed since 6 weeks more like a screech at first he is 13 weeks now and crow getting better doesnt sound as much like a car starting anymore, and luckly he only crows a few times in the morning after we let him out of the coop around7

Toast'n Jelly :

I had one crow at 4 weeks old and his brother at 5 weeks

that's terrible, LOL>

I remember when my bantam roo started to crow, I was so proud. as he was the first of my roos to start crowing. then after a year of 3 roos crowing, not so proud . haha.

I will admit, crowing doesn't appeal to me.

My little Sebright roo Spike started crowing at 2 weeks. Could have been even earlier because I was hearing some weird noises from the brooder but it was at 2 weeks when I actually saw him stretching that neck out and making that screech.

oh man! our 2 polish roos crow about every 5 seconds round the clock unless they are asleep! they are the loudest, crowingest roosters EVER! i really mean it, all day long, every minute AT LEAST! AND they try to out crow each other, they get into a crowing match, plus they are mean, anyone ever had super mean polish. one is a mottled houdan, and hes the worst, he will jump on top of food and chase other chickens away from it if he is alowed to mix with the other breeds in the general population area. plus hes racist. he only likes other top hats.

Dog gone it! I want mine to crow! they are 11 weeks old and not one little peep! How on earth will I ever know for sure if they are roos or pullets.. LOL

I have been wondering that also, if we have a Sultan Roo (it was a ST-RUN) when can we expect it to start to crow. The reason we need to know if ours is a roo is; our next-door neighbor is terrified of roos (childhood thing

) and out of respect my Dad and Mom won't get a roo.
We are also hoping the 2 Silkie and 1 Sultan (ST-RUN's) aren't roos cause my mom said dad will make us find another home for them if they will be crowing and disturb poor mister 'young enough to get use to it' neighbor, we live in the country for heavens sake...
Oh, sorry it just upsets me that he dictates to them when my parents have lived here 22 yrs, compared to his less than 5 yrs.
Mom and I will find a way to keep any roos quite if we have to bring them in the house brooder cage every night so they won't crow in the early morning.
Oh, that reminds me, a buyer (production chicks) at the hatchery we got our 1st 6 said there are vets out there that will carefully take the crow out of a roo. Is that true?

Let me know if truth or myth...

My 5 week old marans roo is testing out his crow for the first time. It sounds terrible! Poor little guy. I hope he takes lessons from the older roo's across the yard!

Almost all of my BCM roo's start to crow between 4 and 6 weeks of age!

Now my 4 Olive Egger roo's are 13 to 15 weeks old and not one has even attempted to crow yet!

My Wellie roo crowed when he was 3 weeks old. It was hilarious, pitiful sounding, and adorable all at the same time. Then stopped crowing until earlier this week. He and an EE that was supposed to be a pullet have started crowing in the morning as of this week. They are 12 weeks old. This far my other suspected EE roo has not started crowing, and neither have any of my straight run of Silkies. I wish they'd hurry so we would know for sure who we're gonna keep.
