Crowing hen!

Well I didn't expect this.

One of my newly acquired Cochin mix bantam hens, Mipha, was just having a crowing match with my younglings.
She's also spurred.

I have no problem with it whatsoever. She can sing right along with the choir. It's very interesting though.

Does she still lay eggs? Reproductive damage can cause a hen to get rooster characteristics. Had this happen to a hen, and she stopped laying, her comb and wattles grew larger, and she attempted to crow.

She's not laying at the moment.
Her daughter is about 11 weeks, so I'm not expecting eggs for a while yet.

I hope she makes a habit of it. Makes me feel better about my own singing.

Mipha had a shorter crow.

She was flapping her wings and trying a bit too hard.

Must get a video tomorrow. Hope she tries again.
