And what's the best way to go about rehoming a rooster?

Not sure what country you are in. If you are in the USA you can try advertising on Craigslist. If you are in another country do you have an online buy, sell, trade site?

You can ask at the feed store. Many have a bulletin board you can post an ad on.

You might be able to find an active state or country thread in the "Where am I? Where are you!" section of this forum and chat with your neighbors.

You can go to the Buy - Sell - Trade section of this forum and run an ad there. Put your location in the title of that post so you attract the attention of the people close to you.

As others have said he's a Speckled Sussex cockerel. Luckily the other three are pullets.

Yeah, I just can't have roosters in my area since it's mostly residential/urban, only hens. And he's my favorite bird :-/ He tolerates my picking him up and moving him around pretty constantly and will just like...hang out with me when I work outside

But I have found him a new home already since there's a lot of agricultural land around my neighborhood so that's good! I've heard roosters can be toughies to find new homes for.
